Name Correction/Change Policies

Notice

If you make an involuntary or voluntary itinerary change then all associated EMDs and AE must be refunded, as EMDs are not exchangeable. If the customer still wishes to purchase the ancillary on the new itinerary then a new EMD should be issued. If the itinerary does not change then all paid EMDs are non-refundable and the travel agent will be issued a debit memo for improperly refunded EMDs.

Name Change Policy

JetBlue allows name corrections under our name correction policy found above. Changes to customer names that do not meet our name correction policy are considered a name change. Once a PNR has been ticketed, name changes are not permitted on the PNR. However JetBlue will allow you to use the ticket for another customer provided you book a new PNR, charge the increase in fare and charge the appropriate change fees at the time of the exchange.

In order to do a name change, the following criteria must be met:

  • JetBlue (B6/279) must be the validating carrier.
  • All flights in the ticket must be operated and/or validated by JetBlue (B6/279) and/or an OA Interline JetBlue Partner.

In order to change the name, thus making the ticket transferrable, you must follow these instructions:

  1. Cancel the segments in the current PNR & leave the ticket open.
  2. Book a new PNR for the new customer and store a current selling fare.
  3. Use the open ticket and process a voluntary exchange/reissue on that ticket.
  4. Collect the applicable change penalty fee and any difference in fare at the time of reissue.

A waiver code is not required for this type of transaction so long as all fees and increases in fare are collected.

Failure to follow the guidelines above will result in a debit memo

BSP Agencies: Effective May 1st, 2019, change and cancellation fees should only be collected using the “CP” tax code field on the ticket. (Note: through April 30th, 2019, BSP agencies may continue to ‘COLLECT FEE IN TTL’, or ‘COLLECT FEE AS TAX’ using the “CP” tax code. “CP” is the only accepted tax code for collecting change and cancellation fees. Debit memos will be issued for using non-approved tax codes, including tax code “DU”.
